Third Permanent Test Drive Meme

Welcome to the SoE TDM!
Due to the premise of the game, everyone on this testdrive must be the modern day reincarnation of the characters we all know and love. Please take a quick look at our navigation to familiarize yourself with the concept and setting of the game before you jump in.
If you have a relationship plotting post comment for your character (which is NOT mandatory to play in this tdm), please link to it when putting up a toplevel on the TDM. That way, other players can easily get an idea of what kind of character they will be tagging.
Other than that, you know the tdm drill - when commenting, please put your character's name and canon in the subject line, and write one or more threadstarters so others can tag you easily. Below, you'll find some prompts that you can use or discard at will to write those threadstarters.
1. The mighty cat spawn
One of your fellow Numbered echoed the ability to spawn cats. They don't know how or why, and they have very little control over it. The problem is that all those cats are a little magic, and all of them like to escape directly after they spawned. So all Numbered have been recruited to find the cats and bring them back to their home.
Find a cat and bring it home really sounds a lot easier than it is... At least they are easily recognisable by the little gemstones set into their foreheads.
2. Winter Wonderland
This far to the south, in the very maritime climate of England, there rarely is snow. And if, it isn't much, and it doesn't stick for long. Not so this Christmas. Snow as thick as on Christmas postcards covers Mossgate Council. Public transport has shut down, the roads are impossible to drive on, stores have closed down, and electricity is down in many places.
In Folkton and Moss Manor, the church halls are heated and offer mingling spaces. In Mossgate, people go sledding on the Greens. And in Tarwich, whole roads are covered in giant snowmen. All corners of the council area are in a special state of existence, and to be missing it, you'd have to be in deep hibernation.
3. Halloween is a bit extra this year
As in, very extra. Not only does every household wake up to a bucket of water on their doorsteps in which scary apples are floating, complete with a sign attacked to the bucket that reads: Have fun bobbing!
No, the whole of the council area is also covered in cobwebs, and the graveyards are covered with the skeletons of those that should normally lie buried under their soil.
4. Summer summer SUMMER!
There is a summer fĂȘte and a Pride to enjoy during the summer months. But one can also just lie at the beach, wade through the rock pools at the bottom of the cliffs to catch starfish, tiny shrimp, tiny fish, shellfish, and anemones. Or you can take a ride on one of the attractions on the Pleasure Pier. Or enjoy a concert on the greens. ...Or return from a trip to Spain and suddenly have all echoes come back to one at once. That's also an option, but probably less pleasurable.
5. Past tdm prompts
Feel free to use a prompt from an earlier tdm!
6. Wildcard
And, of course, the obligatory do-what-you-want option.
Takato Matsuda | Digimon Tamers
1. Cats
Thom usually liked cats. He didn't have one of his own, but he always liked taking care of them when he was volunteering at the shelter.
But catching them outside was a lot harder than he thought it would be. He'd gotten a few into the carrier by bribing them with food, but now he was looking up at one that had managed to get stuck on a tree branch above him.
Carefully, he starts climbing up the tree after it.
2. Winter Wonderland
Thom kneels down in the snow at the top of the hill and grins as he looks over at his dog.
"What do you think, boy? Do you want to try sledding?"
3. Wildcard
CAAATS.
"You'd better hope that cat likes you; there's more than one way to get a scratch on your face here," he comments, checking his pockets because he knows he has some food on him...
There's more than one way to bring a cat back to earth, natch.

He kneels as well, to lessen the compression - even with as little as Thom has to fall, it'd be terrible for the boy to gain a neck sprain or the like for his trouble.
"You all right?" Walter asks, putting the boy down on his own two feet.
"Apologies for startling you, there."
no subject
"I'm okay! Thanks for catching me." He stares back up at the tree, and sighs as he realizes that the cat is now even higher than before. "But I don't know how I'm going to get him down."
no subject
Faintly, it blinks back.
"I wouldn't recommend waiting this one out, but we could try luring it out instead," he continued, finally locating the food he'd been thinking of and holding it up toward the tree.
"Can't really get the wind to aid us, but as long as our feline friend can see the food, this might still work."
no subject
Up to you whether the cat is injured and just downplaying it, or what.
Well, that just made things harder all over again.
"In these circumstances, most cats are just stubborn, and maybe a little scared."
Above them, the cat... yawned?
Walter made a face.
"I don't think this one is scared, anyway."
The cat is probably fine! Thom is just a worrier. With an overactive imagination.
"Then I'm going to try and get up there again," he decides. "It can't stay up there by itself. And it could be hurt if it tries to jumps down from there."
It doesn't occur to him that if the cat could get hurt from falling from there, the same would be more than true for his own self.
Very relatable, for what it's worth. KITTEH. ;a;
"You do weigh more than the cat, yes? Cats are also more used to jumping off high objects - though that doesn't mean we shouldn't do anything," he acknowledges.

It could work as a compromise...

How tall IS this tree? XD Walter's only 5'3, but that's taller than Thom is.
Nodding, he moves closer to the tree, crouching down for Thom to step into his hands.
Lets say just tall enough for Thom to reach the cat if Walter gives him a boost, and he stretches
Then both shall stretch!
That's all the warning - plus two seconds - Thom gets, before Walter lifts the boy upward, adjusting his own stance for stability and so Thom can best face the kitty.

He murmurs quietly to the cat, as he tries to get closer to it without scaring it. Leaning just a little further, he finally stretches far enough to grab it and pull it back.
Which is when the cat reacts as you might expect. Thom yelps as the cat's claws sink into his arms, but hangs on to it.
no subject
"Going to need to get that looked at. All right, back down!" he warns, putting Thom down as carefully as the boy had been lifted.
Let it be known that Walter Weekes' preferred sport is not weightlifting.
no subject
It is only after the case is securely locked that he gingerly inspects on the scratches on his arms.
"I guess he got me a little," he says mournfully.

Think this thread should fade out from here? Since they're probably Mary-Ann's cats. =P
XD. yes! looks like a good ending place.
One last tag. XD Because I am unstoppable, apparently.

It's just that he's curious, and also happy to cheer the kid on if his courage falters. So he wanders over and watches - and also gives the tree a quick glance to judge if he, Anders, would be too heavy to climb up there, too.
"What're you doing climbing up there?" He has a distinct accent - perfectly understandable, flawless English, but there's a bit of a potato quality to it that however doesn't stand out as much in Kentish as it might in more northern areas.
no subject
"There's a cat up here," he calls down. "It wouldn't come down by itself."
no subject
"Or I can catch ya two when ya got her and wanna jump."
no subject
"Could you just take her if I hand her down?" He didn't think jumping while holding a cat would go very well either.
no subject
Still, he remains on the ground. He doesn't actually want to break the tree that holds kid and cat.
"So, do you know that cat at all?"
no subject
He tests the branches, and pulls himself up to one that feels a little more sturdy.
